ANNUAL AWARDS PRESENTATION 2020/2021
In an erratic season, it's been an impossible task to assess our teams' and players' development and achievements. As such, we have decided not to hold our annual awards event. We are sorry to disappoint our players but we do hope that since our return to football that you've been able to reconnect with your teams, enjoy as much football as possible and are raring to go for next season. All our Minis teams (U7-U10) will still receive medals and certificates of participation for their efforts.
With this in mind though, we did think it important to acknowledge some important members of our Club who in exceptional circumstances have proven themselves to be a key part of our community, and an asset to our Club. We also acknowledge our U18 Rovers team who have played out their last season with us. Our sincerest best wishes to you for the future and beyond - we congratulate Dylan Ndlovu who we will award with a trophy to acknowledge 10 years of service playing with CTYFC.
THE BILL MACKIE AWARD
Nikki Smith has run the admin for the U16 Rascals for a number of years but a few weeks ago, she showed us that she is a truly inspiring member of our football community.
On the 12th April, the U16 Rascals were playing an away match when an opposition player collapsed. The player needed immediate medical attention and as a NHS professional, Nikki assisted in providing CPR and essential first aid to that player, and co-ordinated the emergency services response. We are under no illusion that she saved that player's life. After the match, she was also key in communicating events to the Club but also ensured the welfare of the team was considered and the players' schools were informed. Her input and actions throughout have been invaluable.
Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Nikki Smith - a very deserving recipient of the Bill Mackie Award for her outstanding contribution and service to Camberley Town Youth F.C.
THE CRAWLEY SHIELD FOR DETERMINATION & COMMITMENT
Joey Tier became a local Camberley celebrity in lockdown when he set himself the challenge of running 2.5 miles every day for 30 days to raise money for the NSPCC.
We loved his commitment to staying active but also the desire to do something positive for the community. A member of the U9 Rockets, Joey is also a valued team member for his cheerful attitude and enthusiasm.
A special mention to Joey's mum, Vicki, who also led a charity food drive over lockdown to support a local community group. We thank her for being so proactive and thoughtful in this role.
A really special family - we thank the Tiers for the all that they do - they are true assets to the Club. Congratulations to them, this year's recipient of the Crawley Shield for Commitment & Determination.
All within the Club were asked to submit nominations for The Bill Mackie Award and Nikki and The Tier family were selected by a judging panel from a very worthy list of nominees. Below, is a list of those nominees. In a challenging year, we thank for all the time and effort you put into our Club, teams and wider community.
Sean James, Mark Sheppard, Brett Robinson, Kristen Bailey, Mike Hurley, Dave Robinson, David McTernan, Delaney Brookes, Wayne Kerr
As a Charter Standard Community Club, CTYFC are proud to be one of the biggest providers of grassroots football in the Surrey Heath Borough.
We want our players and coaches to be #gamechangers. We want them to play with competitive spirit but also participate with pride, respect, sportsmanship and most of all, cultivate a love and enjoyment for football and sport in general.
Our children's welfare is paramount so we ensure that all coaches that work with us are FA Level 1 qualified and CRB checked as a minimum.
